RESTORE

Flying Eaglets Roadmap™ · Our Approach

When Learning Becomes Difficult,
There Is a Way Forward.

RESTORE supports learners who are struggling, disconnected or uncertain about their direction. It helps them rebuild connection, rediscover purpose and take manageable steps forward with appropriate support.

03

A difficult season does not define a learner.

With understanding, practical support and consistent follow-up, learners can work towards renewed engagement and a clearer next step.

Understanding the learner

Start with the person, not the problem.

A learner may struggle with motivation, participation, confidence, relationships, learning routines or a sense of direction for many different reasons.

RESTORE creates space to listen, understand barriers, recognise existing strengths and identify realistic ways to re-engage.

  • Listen without reducing the learner to a label.
  • Identify barriers, strengths and available support.
  • Agree on small, realistic steps towards renewed engagement.
  • Involve families, educators or appropriate professionals when needed.
A supportive response

Progress can begin with one achievable step.

Restoring direction does not require solving every challenge at once. It begins with understanding what is happening and agreeing on a useful next action.

A learner's present struggle is part of their story—not the limit of their possibilities.
The RESTORE process

Reconnect. Rebuild. Re-engage.

The process should respond to the learner's circumstances, pace and needs. It is not a one-size-fits-all intervention.

01

Reconnect

Build trust, listen carefully and understand the learner's experience, concerns and support needs.

02

Rebuild

Strengthen confidence, identify existing abilities and establish manageable routines and goals.

03

Re-engage

Support practical action, reconnect the learner with appropriate opportunities and review progress together.

A flexible path forward

Support that responds to the learner's reality.

Different learners need different combinations of encouragement, structure, mentoring, family involvement, learning support and referral to specialist services.

RESTORE offers a developmental framework. It does not replace professional assessment, counselling, safeguarding procedures or specialist educational support where these are required.

A

Understand

Explore barriers and listen to the learner's perspective.

B

Prioritise

Identify the most important and achievable starting point.

C

Act

Agree on manageable steps with suitable support.

D

Review

Check progress and adjust the approach when needed.

A roadmap back to direction

Reconnect the learner with identity, possibility and action.

The DIPPA–Follow-up™ Framework helps learners reflect on who they are, what they hope for and what they can do next.

01

Identity

Who am I? Recognise inherent worth, strengths, values and areas for growth.

02

Dream

What could I become? Reopen space for hope, possibilities and future aspirations.

03

Purpose

Why does it matter? Identify reasons for taking the next step.

04

Plan

How will I get there? Break a goal into manageable, realistic actions.

05

Action

What must I do now? Begin with a specific and achievable next step.

06

Follow-up

How will I keep going? Monitor progress, reinforce habits and adjust support.

Shared responsibility

No learner should have to work everything out alone.

Support is often strengthened when learners, families, educators and other trusted adults work together around clear and appropriate next steps.

For learners

A voice in decisions, achievable goals and recognition of progress.

For families

Practical ways to encourage connection, routines and constructive conversations.

For educators

Coordinated support and appropriate communication about learning needs.

For support teams

Clear follow-up, role clarity and referrals where specialist help is needed.

Progress worth supporting

Small steps can help rebuild a sense of direction.

RESTORE focuses on creating conditions for renewed connection, confidence and participation. Progress may be gradual, and support can change as a learner's circumstances change.

Connection

Stronger relationships with trusted and supportive adults.

Confidence

Opportunities to recognise strengths and experience progress.

Engagement

Practical steps towards renewed participation and routines.

Continuity

Follow-up to identify what is working and what needs to change.
